Minister to address NLA conference

The parliamentary under secretary of state in the Department for
Communities and Local Government, Iain Wright, will address the
National Landlords Association (NLA) annual conference, the body
has announced.
Mr Wright is a "champion" of the private rental sector and an
advocate of buy-to-let as a positive contributor to the housing
mix, the NLA said.
The conference will be held in Birmingham on November 29th, with
other speakers including Dr Julie Rigg of the Centre for Housing
Policy at the University of York, who is shortly to publish a paper
on the private landlord sector.
As well as the headline speakers, a panel of experts will take part
in a 'Question Time' style debate on the industry.
The NLA recently commented that buy-to-let is far from dead,
despite the nationalisation of buy-to-let mortgage lender Bradford
& Bingley.
It pointed out that only between 25 per cent and 30 per cent of
investors use such mortgages to buy properties.
