New homes to form part of stadium plan
New housing is to be included in a new regeneration plan in north
London focused on the creation of a 60,000 capacity football
stadium.
Tottenham Hotspur has unveiled plans to build the stadium by
extending the existing White Hart Lane site where it currently
plays.
The development will also include the building of new homes, as
well as shops and public spaces, the club has stated.
Chairman of the club Daniel Levy remarked that the plan offered "a
world class scheme and substantial new investment for Haringey",
while council leader George Meehan said the project could bring
"real benefits" for those living in the area.
North London rivals Arsenal created new housing three years ago
when they moved to a 60,000 capacity ground, with their old
Highbury home converted into flats.
Earlier this year Portsmouth announced plans for a new stadium
which include building 1,500 new apartments at the proposed venue
and 750 homes at the site of its current ground.
